Upcoming Event!

If you’re in Nashville on March 18 at noon, stop by the Tennessee State Museum for my “Lunch & Learn” talk.

The subject is my novel Monkey Town: The Summer of the Scopes Trial, the fictionalized story of Frances Robinson Gabbert, whose father F. E. Robinson owned the Dayton TN drugstore where the idea of the trial was hatched by Robinson and a few other city leaders. (The trial, a test case by the ACLU, was conceived as a publicity stunt to bring jobs to struggling Dayton. It backfired.)

The occasion for the talk is the donation by the Robinson family to the Tennessee State Museum of the drugstore table where the trial was planned. Members of the Robinson family will be present to discuss their family’s role in the event.
